1. What is system requirement to import trial Balance from Tally ERP?

System Requirement- If tally is 64 bit than Excel should also be of 64 bit. If tally is 32 bit than Excel should also be of 32 bit. Import can not be done is tally is 64 bit and Excel is 32 bit or vice e versa.

There can be a scenario when Operating System is 64 Bit, while

• Tally.ERP 9 is 64 bit and MS Excel is 32-bit.
• Tally.ERP 9 is 32 bit and MS Excel is 64-bit.

As can be seen, in both cases there is mismatch of bits between Tally.ERP 9 and MS Excel. Due to this, Tally.ERP 9 will not be able to communicate with MS Excel and hence data will not be exported.

In the first scenario,

• Open the Tally Application folder.
• Select the tool regodbc32.exe and Run as Administrator.

In the second scenario,

• Open the Tally Application folder.
• Select the tool regodbc64.exe and Run as Administrator.

2. “General ODBC Error” while importing from Tally

• This error occurs when Tally is not started as “Run as Administrator” or
• When Excel is 32 bit and tally is 64 bit or vice e versa.

3. “Application defined or object defined error” while importing from Tally

• This error occurs when Server Configuration in Tally is not enabled, or when server port number is other than 9000
• How to change server settings or how to change port number to 9000?
  • Gateway of Tally > F12(Configure) > Advanced Configuration
  • Enable ODBC Server: Yes
  • Port: 9000

Note: Server Configuration should be as below.

4. How to check tally is 64 bit or 32 bit?

• In Gateway of Tally press, CTRL+ALT+B – In Calculator area, it shows tally bit.

5. How to check MS Excel is 64 bit or 32 bit?

The following will walk you through how to find the version of Office you are running for Office 2013 & 2016:

1. Start a Microsoft Office program (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
2. Click the File tab in the ribbon.

3.Then click Account

4. On the right, you should see an About button. In this example, we see About Excel

The follow screen will present you with what Office version you are running.

For Office 2010:

1. Click File
2. Click Help in the left column
3. From here, you’ll see About (Excel)
4. Finally, you’ll see Version showing you what version you are running
